Building a circular magnet economy

Connecting feedstock, technology, and manufacturing
to secure domestic rare-earth magnet supply

Overview

Recovery, retention, and reuse

Rare-earth magnets are essential to modern technology, yet their supply chains remain fragile and concentrated. HyProMag USA’s ecosystem addresses this challenge by building a system where materials are recovered, retained, and reused rather than lost.

HyProMag USA operates within a circular supply ecosystem designed to recover, process, and return rare-earth magnet material back into industrial use. Using Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap (HPMS) technology, we convert end-of-life magnets into high-purity NdFeB alloy powder that can be remanufactured into new magnets through a short-loop recycling approach.

By combining feedstock partnerships, advanced recycling technology, and integration with domestic manufacturing, we aim to establish a more resilient and scalable magnet supply network, not only for today but for the future.

The ecosystem connects multiple participants:

Feedstock suppliers providing industrial scrap

Recycling and processing facilities

Technology and research partners

Industrial manufacturers that depend on magnets

Securing a stable flow of feedstock material

Feedstock is the starting point of the HyProMag ecosystem. HyProMag USA works with partners that generate magnet-containing waste streams across manufacturing and end-of-life product recovery. These materials provide a reliable source of rare-earth magnet alloys that can be recovered and reprocessed into new magnets.

Advancing magnet recycling through patented technology

Our ecosystem is strengthened by long-term collaboration with research institutions and technology partners. The Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap (HPMS) process, developed through years of research at the University of Birmingham’s Magnetic Materials Group, enables efficient extraction and recovery of rare-earth magnet alloys. This close connection between research and industry ensures continuous advancement of the technology.
