OUR TEAM

The founding directors of HyProMag Ltd include the late Professor Emeritus Rex Harris, former Head of The Magnetic Materials Group (“MMG”) within the School of Metallurgy and Materials at the University of Birmingham; Professor Allan Walton, current Head of the MMG; and two Honorary Fellows, Dr John Speight and Mr David Kennedy. They are all leading world experts in the field of rare earth magnetic materials, alloys and hydrogen technology, and have significant industry experience.

Linda Lourie

Advising Director
Linda S. Lourie is an expert in foreign investments, export controls, and commercial dual-use technology, with a focus on both the U.S. (CFIUS) and China (Outbound Investments). Most recently, she served as the Assistant Director for Research and Technology Security in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, advising on export controls, technology transfer matters, and implementing national security strategies for U.S. government-supported research. She also led the innovation component of the AUKUS security pact and previously held key legal and advisory roles at the Department of Defense, including Associate General Counsel and General Counsel of the Defense Innovation Unit.

Linda has an extensive background in international intellectual property, technology policy, and defense trade, having served in various positions across the Department of Defense, U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, and the White House. She holds degrees from Harvard University, NYU's Institute of Fine Arts, and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, with numerous awards for her government service.

Will Dawes

Director
William Dawes is a founding Director and CEO of AIM/TSXV listed Mkango Resources, and a Director of LeoMinEx and HyProMag. He has over 25 years’ experience in exploration, business development and investment banking.

Having trained as a geologist in South Africa, he worked as a mining analyst based in London and then for Rio Tinto’s exploration division. Subsequently, he gained significant global mining transaction experience at Robert Fleming & Co, Chase Manhattan Bank and JPMorgan.

He holds a BSc Geology from Bristol University and MSC Mineral Exploration with distinction from Royal School of Mines, Imperial College.

John Singleton

Director
John Singleton has over twenty years’ experience in the mining industry. He started his career at De Beers Consolidated Mines in South Africa as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, followed by 13 years at Rio Tinto Plc. During his time at Rio Tinto John gained extensive operational, commercial and technical experience across multiple product groups and served in several senior leadership positions in Business Evaluation and Corporate Development. Most recently he was Head of Corporate Development at Centamin Plc. His experience includes business development, strategy and capital planning, mergers and acquisitions, assessment of investment opportunities, project development and valuation. John has worked globally across multiple commodities and has led several multi-discipline teams. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geological Society and holds a BSc from the University of Bristol and a MSc in Engineering Geology from Imperial College London.

Professor Allan Walton

Advising Director
Dr. Walton is a Professor of Critical and Magnetic Materials. He is head of the Magnetic Materials Group (MMG) at the University of Birmingham and the former head of the UK Magnetics Society. Over the last ten years he has been developing technologies to sense, sort and extract rare earth magnets from end of life products. He has developed these technologies up to pilot scale within the University of Birmingham and it is these technologies which will be taken to a commercial scale by HyProMag.
